A native Atlantan and Georgia Tech graduate; Karen Hodgdon spent time living in Paris, the Pacific Northwest and Atlantic Canada before she returned to Atlanta to pursue her career. Although she began her career in commercial architecture, she soon realized that her passion and strength lie in residential design- all the way back to the hours spent playing with wooden blocks as a child to continuing yearning making furniture and building houses. Karen’s experience varies from vacation homes on Lake Burton and Lake Lanier, to summer homes in Maine, coastal South Carolina and Georgia, and renovations in and around the city of Atlanta. Whether a full house design from the ground up or a bathroom renovation, she loves the challenge of fitting the right design to the individual client, tailoring the details of the home to the specific desires and unique personality of the inhabitants. Because she believes that collaboration between architect and homeowner is the key to achieving the best outcome, she will listen and learn how each family lives in order to design a space to suit their needs.
When Karen is not at Jones Pierce, she can be found walking her two Labrador Retrievers, running half marathons, traveling to places near and far and simply spending time with friends and family. She cultivates her creative mind with personal projects, visiting museums, touring homes and taking summer woodworking classes in Maine.
